Hot seating!

Good evening all,

This week in 3H we have been immersed in our amazing english learning. From learning all about the features of a finding story to story openers. We have loved losing ourselves in our fantastic story ‘The Egg by M.P Robertson’ and have produced some spectacular starts to our shared write stories using incredible weather, time, place and character starters.

George in the hot seat

Not only this but we have been so immersed in our learning we were able to well and truly take on the character of George from our story. We had several children on the ‘hot seat’ as George who acted brilliantly and used what they knew about the story to answer questions from the class. Questions like ‘Why didn’t you tell your parents about the dragon you found?’ and ‘How did you feel when you saw the enormous egg underneath your mothers favourite chicken?’

We hope you enjoy looking at our ‘George’s’ in action.

Music

In music this week Year 3 have been investigating pitch. We have learnt that pitch is the degree of highness or lowness of a tone. We explored how to identify if a note is higher or lower than the previous note.

Learning the ‘elevator song’ helped us to understand high and low pitches. We made sure to practice the chorus of the elevator song, noticing the pitch of our chimes. We thoroughly enjoyed using the chime bars to perform a classroom ensemble as well as individual performances of the elevator song!
