Synagogue Trip

This morning 3H visited our local synagogue. They had a fantastic time! They had chance to hear from the people in the Synagogue talk about their place of worship.

Afterwards, they explored the Torah, the Synagogue and Shabbat.

Then they learnt about the special events Synagogues can hold like Bat mitzvahs, Bar mitzvahs and weddings. Next, they explored a scroll and the link between the decorations and the high priest.

Please watch a few videos of the children exploring the synagogue.

Super Sixes

This afternoon, 3H have really shown off their ‘wildstyle’ relationship skills! All year, they’ve been working towards big group work, merging two groups of trios. Today they worked brilliantly all day in groups of 6 and were able to create dances, share ideas, take turns and listen to one another so well. The pictures show them practicing in their groups and the videos show their group and whole class dances. Well done 3H, keep it up!

Money, money money!

Last week, 3H were getting practical. They explored what coins and notes looked like and discussed their value. We added and subtracted money and looked at change. It was lots of fun using practical resources to ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ items and give correct change. Some real life skills learnt!

Talking about transitions

This morning 3H began talking about moving up into Year 4. We all shared a highlight of Year 3, something we’ve enjoyed so far this year. We also then shared how we were feeling about moving from Year 3 into Year 4.

We were lucky enough to be joined by some Year 4’s themselves so we took the chance to interview them. We talked all about the topics covered in year 4 and what you learn in Year 4. We asked the year 4’s what they have enjoyed so far and their highlights from this year. It was exciting to hear all about what is instore for us next year and to reflect on what an amazing year we have had this year.

Thank you Year 4’s!

Art outside

This afternoon 3H enjoyed sketching the plants we have outside our classroom. They enjoyed identifying the different parts of the plant and talking about their purposes. We were lucky enough to see two butterflies ‘dancing’ around us as we sketched.

Super relationships!

3H have been learning all about what life was like in the Victorian Era. They worked together to create Venn diagrams showing how life was in the Victorian times in terms of housing, food, work and education. Their wildstyle relationships have developed so much since the start of the year. It is lovely to see them working so well together.

WOWbarn

3H had a fantastic time at the WOWbarn today! We heard from some of the people who had helped build the barn and explored some of the artists who running the workshop today.

We started off by creating our own designs to represent some words.

Next, we created two banners as a whole class using ink.

Lastly, we had the fantastic experience of drilling! We each got use a drill to insert screws and then use string to create a design.

Seven Arches Aqueduct – local walk

3H spent the morning exploring the Seven Arches Aqueduct in Scotland woods.

We enjoyed sketching the scenery, noticing the sounds and nature around us as we worked. We zoomed in to sketch specific plants and explore our science topic plants in more detail.

We explored different natural materials and had a go at making our own pieces of art with them. Here are some of our creations!

A great morning exploring all together!
