We have been practice our Spanish language skills. It has been wonderful to see our conversational Spanish developing and children being able to hold conversations with each other in Spanish.

Before 3H set off to the library we discussed road safety. We walked together down to Moor Allerton library.

We started off by listening to the lovely librarian explaining to us how the library works.

Then, we explored the library ourselves and read lots of different books.

We also were given a class library card where we can select library books to keep in the classroom. How exciting!
We ended our library trip by listening to the story Pet Potato read by the librarian.

3H are really looking forward to showcasing their skills at the Stone Age Workshop this Thursday. Please do let us know on ParentPay if you are planning to attend. It will be a lovely opportunity for the children to show you what they’ve been learning about so far.
3H have been using resources brilliantly this half term. Here they are exploring adding and subtracting 1 more, 10 more and 100 more from 3 digit numbers.

On Friday, 3H were the TTRS Champions! Well done to all the children who logged on to TTRS and did their homework. It paid off! We were able to lift the trophy at the Learner of the Week assembly.

3H used an Atlas to identify the Orkney islands. We discussed how to use an Atlas and they used their noticing eyes very well to spot the islands. We then discovered that Skara Brae is in Orkney. Together we found out lots of fascinating facts about the Neolithic village and how it was discovered.
This week 3H have been exploring pitch using chime bars.

This half term 3H are investigating rocks. For the first lesson we explored rocks in a pair and used a Venn diagram to compare them. We discussed vocabulary like rough, smooth, pitted, speckled, heavy, light, bumpy.

Our next lesson focussed on permeable and impermeable so we learnt what these words meant and then we experimented using water to discover which rocks were permeable or impermeable.

This afternoon we took advantage of the sunshine and explored outside. As part of our RE learning we’re looking at creation. We’ve kick started our topic by heading outside to collect parts of natural creation.

Then we got into groups to create a collaborative piece of natural artwork.

The finished pieces:

This week 3H have been exploring poetry. We’ve looked at the poem ‘Tell me a dragon’. Here they are performing the actions alongside the poem.
One of our art lessons was learning how to sketch a dragon. Take a look at some of our wonderful artwork.

For our next art lesson we created our own dragon! In writing, we explored adjectives we can use to describe the different aspects of a dragon like it’s talons, torso, wings and snout.
Look at some of our creative ideas:

Finally, we wrote our own riddle. We asked the question What Am I? and we wrote to give the reader clues about what type of dragon we have. Here are some of our wonderful examples:
