We started the morning off by hearing a story from a ‘mad scientist’ who told us about George making a difference type of medicine which ended with two trees growing from it. A good tree and an evil tree. It is a lovely link to our class novel this half term George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We then split into different groups. One group worked very carefully to create the medicine. This also links to our maths learning as we have just started to explore mass and capacity. They were using words like capacity and volume during this task and gaining a deeper understanding of this unit.

One group used different elements of dance to represent the good and evil trees.

The next group were actors as they acted out the story they had been told.

Another group were artists as they painted contrasting images to show the good and evil trees.

At the end of the morning we all got together to show what each of the different groups had been doing. It was a wonderful creative morning!

We are very much looking forward to welcoming the adults of 3H onto the school grounds on Thursday 1st May at 9:30 to join the class in this exciting learning journey.

Welcome back after the Easter break 3H. We have had an exciting first day back because we had the privilege of meeting the author Dermot O’Leary!

He told us about all of his 7 books and he discussed the illustrations of his books as well.

The illustrator Claire Powell led us in a draw along of one of the characters Agent Feathers. We got to ask Dermot lots of interesting questions about his books and his story writing process.

Thank you to everyone who has completed the volcano project so brilliantly. It has been fantastic to see so many creative ways of making volcanoes as well as detailed and accurate labelling. Take a look at our volcanoes!

Last week 3H took part in Science Week. We looked at changes and adaptations.

Here they are matching the adaptations to the different animals and at the end they designed their own animal and explained its adaptations to help it survive.

They also took part in ‘animal yoga’ where they learnt about an animal’s adaption and then performed a yoga pose to represent the animal.

Daisy even brought in her own science experiment she made at home to show the class!

This morning, Year 3 had the pleasure of being joined by Dagur. A real Icelandic tour guide! Dagur was kind enough to give us his time to tell us all about Iceland. We had a chance to ask him questions about life, culture, tourism, geographical features in Iceland and much more.  Dagur was very impressed with the questions we asked.

A few weeks ago, 3H had a fantastic morning full of drama, singing and acting!

We started by warming our bodies and voices up.

They listened to the and learnt more about the Lemminkainen story. Then, they acted out the story using props and songs. Take a look at some of the fantastic actors!

In the afternoon, they worked in groups to create a shadow play of the Lemminkainen story. Creating each of the characters, tracing them onto plastic and experimenting with how they look on the projection. Finally they sequenced the story and a write a script to go alongside.
