3H have been so engrossed in their arts fortnight this week. It has been brilliant has been to see their creativity shine!
Continuous line drawings
They started off their warming up with some continuous line drawing of Icelandic landscapes

Tie dying fabric
Then they worked together to tie dye fabric.

Cold and warm colour palettes
They sectioned off an A3 piece of cartridge paper into 4 parts. Two opposite parts are cool colours and the other are warm. They then drew abstract shapes to represent this i.e. spiky lines for ice and smooth lines to represent lava flow.

Once this was done, they set to work using what they had learnt about cold and warm colours to add to their piece.

Take a look at some of the pieces with their first layer on.

They then used pencils, felt tips and oil pastels to add depth to their pieces.
Sketchbooks
They spent time creating a land of fire and ice page in their sketchbooks. They cut out textile art images and labelled them as well as drew cold and warm colour palettes.

Soundscapes
They worked together to compose soundscapes based on a video and backing track using graphic notation and choosing instruments based on their timbre.

Textile art
From there, they began to sew and stitch beads onto their colour palettes.

Tie dye
They spent all of Friday working so hard on adding texture to their tie dye. They explored different pieces of fabric and cut out designs, sewed them on and then stuffed some of them to create a relief.

Here are beginnings of some textile art work onto tie dye.

Of course, they have also been practicing their dance all week however we don’t want to spoil the surprise! We look forward to seeing you all next Friday to see all of their brilliant hard work.
Thanks so much for all the information and lovely photos Mrs Harbour. The 3H blog is brilliant thank you.
